UNICAC: First training module on “International Cooperation Agreements, Networks and Funding Opportunities” at IET TSUC, KHUJAND

New academic year has started with signing of 6 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Laurea University (Finland), National Polytechnic University (Xian, China), Agrarian and Forestry University (Yanling, China), Khorog State University, Uzbekistan National University and Tashkent University of Information Technologies. During the meeting of the above mentioned universities, which are members of the consortium of “UNiversity Cooperation Framework For Knowledge Transfer In Central Asia And China (UNICAC) ” Erasmus +, it was possible to conclude these cooperation agreements with IET TSUC.
The project is aimed at enhancing the process of internationalization of higher education and continuous cooperation of universities in Central Asia with China. One of the key components of the project is to improve professional skills of staff of International Relations Department with the aim of conducting series of trainings by the European partners.
The first training module was prepared by the Laurea University of Finland and was held on September 16-20, 2019 at IET TSUC. As a host, IET TSUC assisted in organizing trainings and organizing high-profile cultural events at a high level. This meeting is the first event in the Central Asian region and China and is the second event of the project after the kick-off meeting of the project at the University of Seville in Spain.

The first day of the training began with the opening speech of the Director of IET TSUC, PhD, professor Olimi Rauf Latifzoda. Professor Rauf Latifzoda welcomed all the participants and expressed readiness of the university for any cooperation. It was noted that the problem of internationalization of higher education is one of the main parts of the strategic development plan of the Institute.
Deputy Director for International Relations, Doctor of Economics, Professor Inomjon Aminov spoke about international relations of the Institute and international projects. Coordinator of the Erasmus Program in Tajikistan Zarina Nuridinova, in her speech on the content and logic of the project “UNiversity Cooperation Framework For Knowledge Transfer In Central Asia And China (UNICAC)”, noted that the results of the project are important and could be a great opportunity to foster internationalization in all partner universities.
On the first day, the participants introduced their home universities and provided a brief overview of international activities, major projects implemented and strategic directions for the development of cooperation.
The second day of the training was followed by a discussion on the topic “Internationalization tasks in higher education”.
On third day of the establishment of partnerships and networks, negotiations were held to familiarize with preparation, management and monitoring of the implementation of university contracts with foreign partners.
The fourth day of the event the head of the department of international relations, coordinator of the UNICAC project at IET TSUC Saidqosim Mukhtorov have presented funding opportunities in Tajikistan in the example of the project ” Higher Education Development Project ” of the the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, funded by World Bank Group. During the day, Minttu Raty conducted a workshop on project management and financial reporting.
All participants were awarded certificates and as a final stage of the Consortium of UNICAC Memorandum between the Institute of Economy and Trade of Tajik State University of Commerce and partner universities was signed: Laurea University (Finland), National Polytechnic University (Xi’an, China), Agrarian University and Forestry (Yanling, China), Khorog State University, Uzbekistan National University, and Tashkent University of Information Technology.
